Filmmaker, author and photographer Thomas Halaczinsky has focused on the relationship between places and people in films like “Don’t call it Heimweh” about Holocaust survivor Margot Friedlander. In a modern day expedition by sailboat he explored the island world of New York and documented this journey in his book “Archipelago New York” and in a three part documentary series.
